April 17, 2020The City of Williamsport Partners With Citibot to Launch TEXT WILLIAMSPORT – Citibot is a communication tool for residents and their governments. Using text messaging, Citibot helps citizens get messages, updates and communicate directly with city staff. Immediate topics the city plans to utilize this service for are COVID-19 updates and city news. Residents can also use Text Williamsport to search for city information.

April 16, 2020 – City Council to Leverage Technology to Hold Upcoming Council Meetings Remotely – In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the social distancing measures encouraged by federal, state, county, and municipal leaders, Williamsport City Council will hold their regular meeting on April 16, 2020 at 6:30 pm remotely rather than in person at Trade and Transit Centre.  City Council will leverage the virtual meeting platform Zoom, which allows collaboration of groups remotely via video conferencing and dial-in technology. April 3, 2020  – UPDATED PROCLAMATION – On April 2, 2020, City Council met and passed a Resolution to continue my [Mayor Derek J. Slaughter] Proclamation until at least April 30, 2020. They also further limited the maximum group size to 10 people. This applies to all property within the City and at all hours.

April 3, 2020City Council Extends Business and Real Estate Tax Payment & Filing Deadlines – The City Council of Williamsport approved at their April 2nd, 2020 meeting the extension of deadlines to pay real estate taxes and filings and payments of mercantile and business privilege taxes.  The resolutions allow the citizens of Williamsport an extension to the deadlines to pay City real estate taxes at the discounted rate from April 30th, 2020 to June 30th, 2020 and an extension to pay at the face rate from June 30th, 2020 to August 31st, 2020. The resolution also extends the deadline to file and pay 2020 business privilege and mercantile taxes from April 15th, 2020 to July 15th, 2020.

April 1, 2020SBA COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan – In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, small business owners in all U.S. states, Washington D.C., and territories are eligible to apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan advance of up to $10,000. The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program provides small businesses with working capital loans of up to $2 million that can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing.

The loan advance will provide economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. Funds will be made available within three days of a successful application, and this loan advance will not have to be repaid.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans are also available to residents in declared disaster areas.

March 20, 2020City Buildings Temporally Closed – In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, all City of Williamsport buildings will be closed to the public.  While the City of Williamsport practices social distancing, all non-essential services will temporarily be halted.  However, all essential services will continue to operate including police, fire and emergency responses as needed from other City departments.  As always if you have an emergency please DIAL 911 for police and fire!
